Frequently Asked Questions

1) Who are eligible to borrow books from HPC library ?
All members and regular worshippers are welcome to borrow our books. If you are in Primary 6 or above, you can borrow the books directly. Children in Primary 5 and below will require an adult to sign out the books for them.

2) When is the library open ?
On Sundays, from about half an hour before the worship service, to half an hour after.

3) How many books can I borrow, and how long can I keep them?
You can borrow up to 4 books at one time, and the books can be on loan for 3 weeks 1 month.

4) How are the books arranged?
Books are arranged according to category classification (Dewey system) and author’s surname. Example: 249 DOB refers to a book on Parenting by James Dobson. Please refer to the Index List for the complete listing of classification codes.

Children's books are grouped under J section (Junior), and books especially for teenagers are grouped under Y section (Young People)

5) How do I borrow the books ?
We adopt a simple DIY borrowing system, based on trust.

After selecting your books, simply record the book details and your name and contact info in the Library Record Book. Please write your name, instead of signing.

6) How do I return the books ?
Return the books by putting them into the Book Return Box – please do not put them back onto the shelves yourself.

In the Record Book, look for the entries which you wrote in when borrowing the books. Against these entries record the date and your name under the Return Section.

You may wish to give the books a rating (1 to 5; 5 being the best rating and highly recommended), or put in your feedback (eg. torn pages, inappropriate materials, etc)

7) Can I contribute books or cash to purchase new books ?
Yes, you are most welcome to do so. Email us at , or contact the church office, Raymond or Anna for further information.
