Words That Circled THe World (Richard Bewes, 261 BEW)

It is with delight that I recommend a good read such as this.

Richard Bewes gave a resounding spiritual dimension to contemporary words of modern man with relevance, insight and a generous dash of quirky humour.

The illustrations and style make the Word illuminous. Take for example Marilyn Monroe's ambiguously memorable reply to a reporter: "I've been on a calendar but never on Time", which Bewes used as a hook for readers to dig into Ecclesiastes. Few would have given words from Marilyn Monroe a second glance; fewer would have thought of using it to echo "the Teacher" in Ecclesiastes. Bewes did, and he did it impressively, with aplomb. (Pg 78, Marilyn's song reverberates with Ecc 2:10-11).

This is but one such brilliant stroke to the relevance of God's Word - there are 12 others

. . . . . . . . a breath of fresh air
. . . . . . . . . very readable.
