This book tells of a story that is very realistic. Like all our lives, it is filled with unprecedented events. Like all our lives, it is constantly progressing, and the main character Joanne's life changes others. The other prominent figures in this book are Nona and Dave; Nona her best friend and guardian, and Dave her husband and support. 

This is a book we can all relate to, as Joanne is an everyday average person. She is imperfect with constant fears and reliance on others.  However, as she grows in faith in the Lord, she becomes strong.  This is something that we all experience and this book reminds us that although our lives may not be filled with difficulties that require our 'constant calls' to God, we can experience God's presence everywhere and anywhere, in everything and anything.
